A couple on a date looking out on city lights

5 perfect date ideas in Bristol

Planning a date in Bristol? Then you've come to the right place. This waterside city is one of our most popular destinations for good reason, and it's packed with places to head off on a date with a difference. So, whether you need inspiration for a first date location in Bristol, or you're just looking for some quirky date night ideas to add to your list, read on for romance…

1. Hit the bullseye at a darts night

If you've got a competitive streak, you're going to love this one. Dubbed a 'social darts bar', Flight Club Bristol is a one of the city's most newest venues, and it's great if you're looking for something super relaxed, or somewhere to head to on a double date. There are loads of multiplayer games to have a go at, you can order food and drinks, and you definitely don't need to be a darts pro. You'll find it on Corn Street surrounded by bars and clubs, so if your date goes well you can carry on the fun elsewhere.

2. Show them your skills

Is your crush more into adventure than romance? Then axe throwing might be the perfect date night for you. You'll have a 70-minute class with an instructor to learn how to hit the target, as well as enjoying pizza, beer and cocktails - what's not to love?

3. Set sail on a Bristol boat tour

Bristol is wrapped in water, so a date off dry land makes a nice change from the norm. Bristol Ferry Boats run a gin cruise where you can sip a tipple or two as the sun sets over the water, which could be a fun date idea if you've already done the pub to death. And if you fancy setting sail on a more civilised, booze-free date, they also do a genteel midweek cruise over to Beese’s bar and tea garden.

4. Enjoy a love-in at the Love Inn

The brainchild of the team behind Love Saves The Day and Love International festivals, The Love Inn is an aptly-named cocktail bar on trendy Stokes Croft. Head here for live DJ sessions, classic cocktails (try the Rum Tickler, trust us) and great food from a variety of local pop-ups. If you're not fed up of your date by the time you're finished here, go for a wander up to the Montpelier area. Named the UK's hippest neighbourhood, it's wall-to-wall with swanky places to wow your love interest.

5. Have a magical date at Smoke and Mirrors

Smoke and Mirrors is a very cool pub with its own 1920s themed theatre tucked away inside. That means as well as some cracking ales and ciders, they serve up burlesque, magic, and comedy shows most nights of the week. There are only 40 seats in this bijou date-night spot, so you'll need to book ahead. And it's in the heart of the theatre district, right behind the Bristol Hippodrome - so it's a good stop-off if you've been to see a show.

Bristol’s proved so popular that we now run 100+ journeys from London to Bristol every week, so you can go any day, in the daytime or evening. Qu'attendez-vous ? Get booking!
