The perfect lunch spot. The ramen bar on Baldwin Street offers a £7 set lunch menu Monday to Friday featuring ten dishes - with chicken, pork, beef and a vegetarian tofu option. The affordable restaurant doesn't bargain on taste though, as it was voted the best Asian restaurant in Bristol the past two years running.

Sticks & Broth even has a sister restaurant – The Slurp Shop. Located on Bristol : Denmark Street, The Slurp Shop offers delicious mains for under a tenner. And with these flavours there's bound to be sibling rivalry.

2. Small Bar

Thirty-one taps, one Small Bar. Get a real taste of the city at Small Bar - the beer specialists who serve local craft beers from the city's renowned breweries. Beer is served in 1/3 or 2/3 pint measures, encouraging you to sample a selection. Lager, pale ale and IPA cost around £3 to 3,95 for 2/3 pint, making Small Bar an ideal pit stop for a couple of drinks for under £10.

Fancy something stronger? Small Bar also offer a few 8 % - 9,5 % beers, available in 1/3-pint measures for just a few pounds.

3. Harbourside Market

Bringing the tastes, sights and sounds of Bristol together. The weekly Harbourside market unites musicians and artists to showcase their talents without the West End prices. Independent food stands, jewellery stalls and more offer an authentic alternative to the high street.

4. The Bristol Free Walking Tour

A two-hour tour of the city led by a friendly, knowledgeable guide. During the walk you'll discover Bristol's famous sights including the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Cathedral, and Bristol Harbour amongst other notable places of interest. The detailed tour is completely free, and takes place up to six times per week.

The guide leads the tour rain or shine, so it’s best to check the weather forecast and pack your wellies and coat if it’s looking like a wet one.

5. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery

Three floors of fascinating exhibits are free to explore at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. The first two floors feature artefacts from ancient Egypt and dinosaurs, plus a discovery area for under-5s including interactive games and toys. The third floor showcases stunning modern and historical paintings.

Spending a day at the museum? Breakfast and lunch options including bacon baps, sandwiches and hot specials are all available for under £5 each at the museum café. Fresh scones with clotted cream and jam are served from 3pm for just £4.25.

6. The Canteen

A fun and affordable dinner spot. The lively Canteen bar teams mouth-watering food with live entertainment and an outdoor area with ping pong tables. The dinner menu offers a variety of dishes for between £5 - 10 and is constantly changing depending on which local foods are in season. Dinner mains even come with soup and bread - filling and tasty!

The Canteen also hosts live music every night of the week. Entry to the shows is free, and live acts often include a multi-piece band plus dancers. 

7. Glass blowing at Bristol Blue Glass

A traditional Bristolian activity with beautiful results. Bristol Blue Glass has been crafting handmade glass pieces since 1988, and are true masters of their craft. Pop in Monday to Saturday to witness the glassmakers at work - producing large glass ornaments and intricate jewellery. Entry is free of charge, although a pre-booked, informative guide to glassmaking is available for groups of ten and over, costing just £5 per head.

Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir of your visit – a collection of handcrafted blue glass magnets start from £6.50.

8. The Apple

Putting the bar in barge. The Apple serves up the ultimate Bristolian experience - with a choice of up to 40 ciders and locally sourced food aboard a moored barge. Draught pints of cider or beer clock in at under £4, although buying in half pints lets you sample more of the local crafts - and costs less than £2 for a half pint. A perfect spot for a cider in the summer sun.

Sample The Apple's own 'Old Bristolian' cider, which weighs in at a heavy 8,4 %. Available only in half-pint measures, this authentic cider packs a punch for just £2.

9. Banksy Walking Tour

It’s not often you get a tour of one of the world’s most famous artist’s work for nothing. The Banksy Walking Tour guides you through several of the anonymous street artist’s most famous works in his home city. View ‘Grim Reaper’, ‘The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum’ and ‘Well-Hung Lover’ in the original form, among other paintings across the city.

If you’d prefer a guided tour of the city’s street art, the Bristol Street Art Tour takes you around a number of iconic pieces with insight from knowledgeable guides - and for under £10 a ticket. 10. Windhill City Farm

Pack a picnic and head to Windhill City Farm. The free-to-visit farm features adorable animals including pigs, sheep and goats plus traditional pets like guinea pigs and rabbits. A full play area provides hours of fun for children, and the farm has a cosy café which serves food and hot drinks.
