The top 5 things to do in February half term 2019

Looking for things to do with the kids this February half-term? Take your pick from our top 5 activities for families in the UK - they cover everything from museum exhibitions to culture-filled days out, and you can get to all of them with megabus. School's out for February - the question is, are you?

1. Go to Knight School at the Tower of London

Let the kids see the Tower of London as they’ve never seen it before by signing them up to Knight School. They'll start by training as a page, then a squire, then they'll become a fully-fledged knight and join the garrison to defend the tower in a live historical re-enactment. Knight School runs daily from Feb 16-24 and it's included with palace admission. Plus, while you're in the capital you can hop on our excursion londonienne en autocar megasightseeing.com and tick off the city's most famous landmarks. You'll see up to 50 sights on our open-top bus which whizzes you around London in two hours! Plus it's all from £1 plus booking fee!

2. Head to the National Videogame Museum in Sheffield

The National Videogame Museum moved from Nottingham to a brand new home in Sheffield last year, which means now, is a great time to go. It's open every day over half-term week, or Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in term-time. Visit to play in a vast games arcade, fiddle with works-in-progress in the Lab, and learn about the art, science and technology of videogames via the on-site exhibitions. The museum is right next to Castle Square Tram Stop, so it's nice and central if you're planning a day out in Sheffield.

3. Drop in to the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh

If you've been thinking of heading to Edinburgh, February half-term is a great time to go. Half-term runs a week earlier here - the week beginning Feb 11 - although there are great things for kids and families to do all year round. Head to the National Museum of Scotland for free drop-in sessions that run from Feb 9-17, and kids can join in with activities based on the museum’s new East Asia, Ancient Egypt and Ceramics galleries. Edinburgh Castle is another great one for children, so pop in while you’re in town.

4. Travel the world at the Eden Project in Cornwall

You can forget what the weather's doing at the Eden Project - your visit won't be spoiled if it rains thanks to its giant plant biomes. From Feb 16-24, kids can visit five continents in a day as part of Passport To The World, which is free with Eden admission. That includes exploring an Arctic winterscape and discovering a tropical rainforest, with music, crafts and stories thrown in.

5. Visit Birmingham’s LEGOland Discovery Centre

Another one that’s great for colder weather is Birmingham’s LEGOland Discovery Centre - an indoor playground that's home to family rides, loads of LEGO build and play zones and a 4D cinema. You can get money off tickets if you book online, and you can upgrade your ticket and visit The National SEA LIFE Centre if you fancy ticking off two of Birmingham's big attractions in one hit. Here, kids can listen to talks, get involved with feeding times and come face-to-face with underwater creatures in the 360-degree ocean tunnel.
